The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)
The College is fully DDA compliant, having ramped areas and lifts providing wheelchair access. We cater for visually impaired and hearing impaired learners and some members of staff are trained communicators using British Sign Language. For more information about the DDA visit the website here.
Literacy and Numeracy Screening
All students will be screened on entry and their level of Maths and English will be used to gauge whether they will be able to cope with the course they have started. If required they will be offered extra tuition in literacy and numeracy as described in the Additional Support Policy.
Students with certain learning difficulties will be offered support, which can be one to one, small groups, or a facilitator within the classroom or workshop. Dyslexia screening and support is also available.
Personal Care
The personal care team provide individual assistance and support of a more personal nature. In addition to having an experienced support team, the College works with many specialist support organisations, which deliver programmes of study, or offer support within their specialist field.
