Hello from the President!
"My name is Zak Thompson, the Sabbatical President of the Student Union at Burton and South Derbyshire College. Becoming a student at Burton and South Derbyshire College means that you are part of the Learner Voice, in which you have the right to have your voice heard. The Student Union is here to support you whilst you are at the college. There are several ways that students can become involved with the Student Union, from representing their course at the Student Council Meetings to have having an active role on the Student Executive Committee! All of these look excellent on your CV and are beneficial of making new friends and gaining many opportunities.
As a learner at Burton and South Derbyshire College you will automatically become a member of the National Union of Students (NUS) which means you will be entitled to many benefits from having an NUS Card that are available from just £11.
Trips and events are organised by the Student Union during the year and are publicised throughout the college so learners have the chance to take part in these excellent activities.
There is also a Chillout area for Students which students can come and relax in. There are 4 computers, a TV, Playstation 3 & an Xbox 360 to enjoy whilst in the area.

The Student Council exists to ensure that we as a College are placing you as learners centrally within our decision making and that our courses and services fully meet your needs.
We do this by engaging in a systematic and proactive manner with full-time, part-time and work-based students, parents, employers, and College staff.
