Everton was appointed to the Governing Body in July 2011 and is a member of the Standards Committee. He began his working life as an apprentice chef, rising to assistant head chef level before going into teaching. He has held senior management posts at Assistant and Vice Principal level.
Everton has worked on several national steering committees advising government on qualifications for the Hospitality sector, including chairmanship of a review group looking into alternative ways of recording assessment evidence for Scottish and National Vocational Qualifications in hospitality and catering.
Everton achieved his Certificate in Education studying at Wolverhampton Polytechnic. He has also studied education management at the University of Birmingham and also at Sheffield Hallam University.
Whilst head of department at Handsworth College, he launched and concluded a project for setting up a European Afro Hair qualification, in partnership with several European colleges.
Everton is now an Education Consultant and is still a great supporter of the F.E. sector, and continues to make a contribution to it through his Governorship work. He is passionate about all the service and the experience that learners receive. His mantra is that we should treat our learners the way we wish to be treated, which means that they should receive the very best service possible.
