Our Story

With modern facilities and outstanding results, Burton and South Derbyshire College has been delivering quality courses for over 60 years. We ensure that all of our students have a great experience that will help you them achieve their goals, whatever they might be.

We offer over 500 courses from Basic Entry level programmes through to Degree level qualifications.

Our main campus is situated in the heart of Burton with excellent transport links and all of the benefits of being located in the heart of the town centre. As well as offering courses at our main Lichfield Street Campus we have the Workshop in Burton town centre focussing on supporting unemployed people back into work. We have The Academy supporting learners in Uttoxeter and 2012 will see us open our brand new Swadlincote Campus that will have an initial focus on Construction Skills. We also do a significant amount of work supporting local, regional and national employers equip their workforce with the skills they need to remain competitive.

Not only are our facilities great but so are our results. We have a 99% pass rate for our A-Levels and have been rated by OFSTED as good for our vocational provision. Our work with employers such as Toyota is exemplary and our links into Higher Education ensure that our offer truly creates the skills of tomorrow, today.

We have over 11,000 learners at Burton and South Derbyshire College across a range of programmes and modes of study. Each of these learners has a suite of wrap around support to ensure that they remain on track to complete their programme successfully. Our range of services include, financial support, counselling, transport advice and help with planning your studies. Our dedicated team of professionals are committed to ensuring that your time with us is as productive and successful as can be.

We're continually investing in our facilities too! This year we have spent over £2m creating a Vibrant new Learner Hub and modern reception at our Main Campus. We have installed over 250 new computers this year and have built in Wi Fi capabilities across our main campus. We are developing our Virtual Learning Environment at a rapid pace and are about to launch a brand new Microsoft Academy that will ensure Burton and South Derbyshire College have access to the requisite IT skills to meet modern and dynamic industry requirements.
