I'm delighted that you have shown an interest in applying for a post at Burton and South Derbyshire College. We are reshaping our College for the challenges and opportunities facing our sector in the coming years.
We want someone to join us who is as passionate about our sector as we are, who is flexible, adaptable and responsive, as well as someone who wants to be part of a dynamic team who are focused on creating Burton and South Derbyshire College into the vibrant outstanding College that its learners, staff and stakeholders deserve.
The College is located in the centre of Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire and borders on to South Derbyshire. It has a well defined travel to study area with the nearest college approximately 13 miles away in Derby. The College is held in very high regard by people of all ages and the business community.
It has enjoyed 10 years of continued growth facilitated by the development of a comprehensive range of learning programmes and services to business. The College provides courses in all subject sectors, with the exception of land based, and at all levels from entry to honours degrees. Work based provision is very strong particularly in apprenticeship training.
Curriculum developments have been supported by investment in the College's infrastructure and the development of staff. Over £14m has been invested in facilities over the last six years including a Design and Creative Industries Centre (£3.6m), Sports Centre (£1.5m), Automotive and Engineering Skills Academy (£2m) and a University Centre (£5.2m).
The College has a very strong staff development programme offering a balance of internal staff conferences and external programmes with an annual investment of approximately £350,000.
The College plays a leading role in the economic development of the area and has training contracts with a wide range of employers including Toyota, Johnson Controls, Unilever Best Foods, Kerry Foods and W T Parker/Cripwells. Financial Grade A status has been maintained since incorporation.
