Adrian has served on the Governing Body since 1993. His family have lived locally for more than 70 years and he has practised as a Chartered Surveyor in Burton for over 40 years, latterly as principal of his own firm. He is a Commissioner for Income Tax and a Clerk to the Trustees of Ravenstone Hospital Alms Houses. |

Peter is a 63 year old Burtonian and a retired Education and Welfare Officer from Derbyshire County Council after enjoying 20 years of working with children and young people. He has served on East Staffordshire Borough Council for 18 years holding a variety of senior posts and is a County Councillor, principally on the education side. At present Peter is a cabinet member for children and young people. He has supported local industry as much as he can and has been a member of ESREC for a number of years and is an advocate of social integration. He is also a co-opted member of the Consolidated Charities. |

Keith was appointed to the Governing Body in September 1995 and Accommodation Committee. He is a Chartered Chemist and a graduate of Loughborough University and past DMS student of Burton College. He holds Fellowship status of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Institute of Food Science and Technology and the Institute of Management. He is Chairman of Bretby Consortium Limited, an independent local property company. |

| Angela Fuller - Staff Governor | ||

Angela was elected as staff governor in December 2008 and is pleased to represent staff on the Governing Body. She originally came to Burton College to teach for six weeks in 1998. Angela works with learners who have learning difficulties and/or
disabilities. She feels strongly that everyone should be able
to access and benefit from further education and is proud that
Burton College offers support and encouragement to all members
of the local community, including those who are most vulnerable. |

| Mike Goodwin | ||

Mike has been a governor of Burton College since 2005, and is Chairman of the Standards Committee. His family have lived in Staffordshire for many years, and he is Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology at Staffordshire University. He has a particular interest in quality in higher education, and has been an external member of validation panels and external examiner at several universities. He has a wife and three children, and has interests in hockey, football, sailing, and house building. |

Lynn grew up and went to school in the Burton area before going away to college to study for her business studies degree. Following that she pursued a career in accountancy first with Price Waterhouse and then Manchester City Council. She moved back to the area in 2002 to take up the position of Chief Internal Auditor with East Staffordshire Borough Council and became a co-opted member of the Audit Committee in 2005. |

Amir was appointed to the Governing Body in April 1997 as a community member. He is a member of the Equal Opportunities Advisory, Audit and Standards Committees. He is employed as Director by the East Staffordshire Racial Equality Council. He is the chair of British Federation of Race Equality Councils (BFOREC) and Race Equality West Midlands (REWM) a regional capacity building organisation. He has served as a member of Staffordshire Learning and Skills Council. He is also a member of National LSC Equality and Diversity Committee. He is dedicated to the creation of a just and fair society for all by removing barriers, the promotion of equality and the widening of learning opportunities in the community. |

| Frank McArdle | ||

Frank has been a Governor of Burton College since July 2007 and is a member of the Finance and Management Committee. Frank is a Lancastrian, but has lived in Derbyshire for over thirty years. He has been Chief Executive of South Derbyshire District Council for eight years. Outside of Local Government circles, Frank represents Derbyshire on the Football Association Council and is Patron of the Derbyshire FA. Frank is a former semi-professional footballer and a keen squash player. In addition to his football interests, Frank is looking forward to his role as an ambassador for Derbyshire promoting the 2012 Olympics. |

| Mike Moseley | ||

Mike is Chairman of the Audit Committee and is past Chairperson of the Motor Engineering Advisory Committee on which he has served since 1966. He is also a member of the Engineering Advisory Committee. He was Chief Executive of the TL Darby Motor Group until his retirement in 1996. Mr Moseley’s association with the College goes back many years and has lived in the area all his life. He was a student between 1950 and 1954 and was a part-time lecturer in the 1960’s. He is a past Chairperson of Rolleston Parish Council and is a member of the Rolleston Almshouses Trust. |

| Andrew Phillips, Chair of Governors | ||

Andrew is the son of a local doctor. Having completed his law degree at Manchester University he joined a local firm of solicitors as a trainee. He qualified as a solicitor in April 1974. He was appointed a partner by the firm in October 1974 and senior partner in October 1990. For a short period he was employed by the College as a law lecturer. Andrew is a keen dinghy sailor and a qualified sailing instructor. He is an active member of the Living Well Fitness Club and a keen supporter of the Leicester Tigers. He also enjoys archaeology, blues, folk and rock music and classical history. |

Lynne has been a Governor of Burton College since April 2005 and is a member of the Remuneration, Search & Governance and Standards Committees. She works as a public sector consultant through her company Smith Clovis Ltd. Originally qualifying as a solicitor in 1983, having graduated from Birmingham University and Chester Law College, she worked in private practice before moving into Local Government, where she held various posts. Most recently at East Staffordshire Borough Council, she was the Assistant Chief Executive (Community Affairs), which included the Local Strategic Partnership, the Community Safety Partnership and partnerships generally, PR, consultation and communication, race relations and the voluntary and community sector. Her other interests include being a trustee of a county wide charity and a non-executive director of South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust. |

| Ken Stepney | ||

Ken was appointed to the Governing Body in October 2006 and serves on the Finance and General Purposes Committee. He is Head of Learning and Development at JCB. Primarily an engineer his career developed toward product marketing on a global scale. He has also been an associate tutor at JCB for 12 years and during that time has lectured on marketing and customer care. He is a member of the Institute of Management and is chairman of the Staffordshire Board of the Prince’s Trust as well as a member of the Trust's West Midlands Council. |

| Dawn Ward OBE | ||

Dawn joined Burton College as Principal and Chief Executive in November 2008. Prior to this, Dawn was Principal at the Royal Forest of Dean College, where she held the post for three years, and awarded the Centre for Excellence in Leadership’s Principal of the Year Award 2008, after being one of the first ten Principals in the country to successfully complete the Principal’s Qualifying Programme. A graduate from Oxford Brookes University, Dawn has had a successful international career, is a published author and was an active member of the UK team for World Skills Competitions. In 2007 she was awarded an OBE for her services to education and skills training. She is a champion for UKSKILLS and actively encourages and promotes the benefits of competitive skills to the local economy. In addition, she is a member of the national work force race advisory group and a mentor for the black leadership initiative. |
