The Art, Design and Performing Arts School has over 390 full time students, based within a new multi-million pound purpose built centre for performance, media and the visual arts. We offer exceptional facilities with 31 studios, darkrooms, machine equipment workshops, an editing suite, theatre, Apple Mac suite, dance studios, drama studios, music and recording studios. This all helps to create a lively and exciting atmosphere in which to work, and to study Art and Performance courses, with a real 'art school' experience.
The School is highly successful in placing students into their chosen field within Higher Education or employment. All courses are delivered by specialist, practising-professional staff, who exhibit widely throughout the UK and Europe. The school was recently awarded a grade two by the Government inspection team.
Eleven of the College's major art, design and performing arts courses have 100% success for achievement and progression to university courses, as well as to the School's own HND and HNC programmes. All Arts students are invited to take part in one of several residentials to either Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, London or New York, as well as regular visits to London's various art galleries.
We are also very proud of our talented performing arts students, many of whom have gone on to take part in national and regional dance and drama productions.
Some of our students' achievements this year:
STUDENTS DESIGN FOR NATIONAL CERAMIC COMPANY
Ruth Etty and Laura Deaville, Higher National Diploma Textiles students, joined freelance designer Sarah Mercer, who is also studying at the College, to develop designs to be used on a new range of stacker mugs, which were launched in the Summer.
STUDENTS TO DANCE AT CELEBRATED SADLER'S WELLS
Dance and Performing Arts students were invited to perform at London's Sadler's Wells; the foremost theatre for dance in the country.
Forty students were chosen to perform in the Festival, which was Organised by Mardi Gras Promotions, the UK's number one production company for youth dance events.
PERFORMING ARTS STUDENTS PERFORM EX EASTENDERS STAR'S PLAY
First year Performing Arts students staged a production written by an ex Eastender's star.
Entitled "Love Is In The Flares", the production, which is written by Andrew Lynford who played Simon, Tiffany's brother in the popular soap, tells the story of a group of people working in a 1970's platform shoe factory.
